Description

In the rolling Tuscan hills, in the beautiful area of Palaia, about 5 km from the town, we find this fascinating complex dating back to the thirteenth century which still retains traces of its past.
The first sources on the building date back to 980, in 1120 it became a monastery of the Carthusian monks of Calci and in 1209 it was granted to Otto IV as a fiefdom to the bishops of Lucca.
Alica Castle is a place full of energy given by those who lived there. It is a real estate complex of rare charm, dating back to the thirteenth century. which keeps intact the traces of its past of the alternation of different cultures and functions. During the 1300s it passed to the Gambacorti family but, during the Pisa insurrection, it was occupied and sacked by the Florentine army. In the following period the complex became the seat of a convent suppressed in 1809 from which the residential use of the entire complex began.
From 2001 to 2003 a conservative restoration was carried out by the architect Alfredo Signorini of Pisa, the architect Adriano Calza of Bologna, under the direction of the Superintendence of Pisa in the figure of the architect Cianfaloni.
In particular, CASA KENZIA is placed on the first floor of the building with an entrance and directly overlooking the main square, where you can spend relaxing moments and enjoying a breathtaking view of the surrounding hills.
The apartment is spread over an area of 56 square meters and consists of a large open plan area with kitchen, living room, double bedroom and bathroom with no window.
The property is finely restored in its interiors with exposed wooden beams and Tuscan terracotta floors, wooden window frames, independent heating.
Casa Kenzia is sold fully furnished with lovely Tuscan-style furniture.
Inside the complex there is also a swimming pool where you can spend moments of relaxation and absolute tranquility.
According to the Latin etymology, the name of Palaia indicated the place and the working of the wooden poles, to be used in the construction of buildings and boats. today it is also the starting point for scenic excursions of great beauty along the wine road of the Pisan hills, and also well known for its truffles, where the first identity card of Tuber Magnatum Pico (Latin name of the white truffle) was born.
